Bangladesh Unveils Ambitious Development Budget to Propel Growth
Bangladesh's National Economic Council approved a substantial 3 trillion taka development budget for the next fiscal year. This plan aims to foster inclusive economic growth, build infrastructures, enhance social welfare, and reinforce climate resilience. Fund allocation focuses on transport, education, health, and agriculture sectors, with a significant portion financed through state resources.
In a bold move, Bangladesh's National Economic Council (NEC) has sanctioned a 3 trillion taka development program for the upcoming fiscal year. This ambitious financial plan, which is over 30 per cent more than the previous year, aims to drive inclusive economic growth, enhance infrastructure, and accelerate climate-resilient advancements.
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized the necessity of ambition for development, noting the government's commitment to substantial investment as a means of fostering growth and employment. The budget allocates significant funds to critical sectors such as transport, education, and health to ensure comprehensive socio-economic progress.
The development programme comes in the wake of a revised 'negative' outlook from Fitch Ratings and a 'C' rating from the IMF due to financial pressures. Despite these challenges, Bangladesh remains optimistic about transforming into a key investment hotspot through determined leadership and strategic decision-making.
