Rising Diesel Costs Drive Up Bus Fares in Maharashtra

Private bus operators in Maharashtra announced plans to hike ticket prices by 30% following a significant increase in diesel costs. The current diesel rate is hovering around Rs 100 per litre.

Pushkar Luley, joint secretary of the Bus Owners and Travel Agents Welfare Association, cited difficulties in fuel procurement as a cause of reduced bus services between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and other cities.

The association intends to meet shortly, seeking a governmental tax reduction on diesel to alleviate the impact on passengers.
