Leadership Turmoil at BP: Manifold's Ouster Sparks Controversy

Ousted BP Chair Albert Manifold addressed the media on Thursday, stating that not all executives at the oil giant shared his determination to cut costs and enhance efficiency. Although he admitted pushing aggressively for changes, he firmly denied any allegations of misconduct, while praising the integrity of new CEO Meg O'Neill and finance chief Kate Thomson.

The board at BP removed Manifold from his position after just eight months, citing serious governance concerns. Sources close to the situation revealed that Manifold's aggressive approach towards colleagues contributed to his ouster, according to Reuter's reports.

A BP spokesperson maintained the company's stance on Thursday, emphasizing their commitment to employee care. Meanwhile, Manifold, who has enlisted law firm Mishcon de Reya following his dismissal, has yet to disclose any legal actions against BP, defending his tenure against anonymous criticisms.
