Haryana took a significant step towards sustainable transportation with the inauguration of an electric bus depot in Panipat and the rollout of 80 electric buses. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized this development as the dawn of a cleaner, modern transit era in Haryana.

The freshly flagged off fleet includes 40 buses allocated for Panipat, 15 for Yamunanagar, and the rest distributed among Kurukshetra, Sonipat, and Panchkula. The depot, constructed with an investment of about Rs 7 crore, is set to bolster the state's environmentally-friendly infrastructure, with more depots planned across eight additional districts.

Saini highlighted the government's dedication to strengthening public transport by adhering to the national vision for 'Green India,' promoting electric mobility to reduce reliance on petrol and diesel. The introduction of electric buses aims to lower pollution levels while offering residents safe and comfortable travel options.

Future plans include integrating buses with tracking systems for real-time updates via mobile applications, the construction of ten more electric bus stands, and a continued partnership under the Public Private Partnership model to bolster the initiative. Overall, the state's electric bus services are expected to revolutionize urban transportation across Haryana.
