The Republic of Congo is preparing to host the second edition of the Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) from 1 to 3 June 2027, bringing together investors, policymakers and industry leaders from around the world to explore opportunities across the country's growing energy sector.

The event will take place at the Kintélé International Conference Center under the endorsement of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, led by newly appointed Minister Stev Simplice Onanga. Organised by Energy Capital & Power, the forum is expected to attract thousands of delegates and serve as a platform for investment discussions, business partnerships and regional energy cooperation.

Representatives from major international and regional organisations, including OPEC and the African Petroleum Producers Organization, are expected to attend alongside African energy ministers, financiers, technology providers and oil and gas companies from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

Oil and gas projects continue to drive sector growth

Production growth continues to be supported by projects operated by companies such as TotalEnergies, Perenco and Trident Energy. Large-scale developments, including the Moho Nord and Marine XX assets, remain central to the country's energy strategy.

Another key contributor is Eni's Congo LNG project, which is being rolled out in phases and is expected to reach production capacity of up to three million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually. The project is helping the country expand its reach into global gas markets while creating new opportunities for investment and industrial development.

National oil company Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (SNPC), under the leadership of Director General Maixent Raoul Ominga, is also increasing its involvement in major projects. The company continues to advance deepwater exploration and development activities while positioning itself as an important partner in future energy investments.

Focus on local participation and long-term economic benefits

A major theme of CEIF 2027 will be increasing local participation in the energy sector. The government wants to ensure that investment leads to broader economic benefits for Congolese businesses and workers. Supported by the African Energy Chamber, discussions will focus on workforce development, technology transfer and ways to expand opportunities for local companies within the energy value chain. Industry leaders will examine how international operators can work more closely with domestic businesses to strengthen long-term growth.

The forum will also highlight ongoing reforms designed to improve the investment environment. These include the implementation of a Gas Master Plan, the creation of a national gas company and a new gas code aimed at unlocking undeveloped gas resources and reducing flaring. More than 3,000 delegates from over 40 countries are expected to attend the event, which will feature conference sessions, technical workshops and networking opportunities aimed at attracting new partnerships and reinforcing the Republic of Congo's position as a leading African energy destination.
