Galgotias University Shines: Students Secure Gold at World Yogasana Championship

Students from Galgotias University clinched five gold medals in the inaugural World Yogasana Championship 2026 in Ahmedabad. Competing against athletes from 79 countries, the students triumphed in various categories, contributing to India's leading position in the medal tally. The event marked a significant international platform for Yogasana.

Galgotias University students have excelled on an international stage, securing five gold medals at the 1st World Yogasana Championship 2026 in Ahmedabad. This remarkable achievement was not only a triumph for the university but also bolstered India's position at the top of the overall medal tally, with a total of 114 medals, including 102 golds.

The championship gathered 522 athletes from 79 nations, making it the most comprehensive international platform for Yogasana to date. Students from Galgotias shone amidst this global competition. First-year BA Economics student Ritu Mondal secured gold in Traditional Individual and Group categories, while English student Riya claimed gold in the Supine Individual event for seniors. Deepa Lodhi excelled in the junior category, securing golds in Artistic Pair and Group events.

The event, organized by Yogasana Bharat in association with World Yogasana and the Indian Olympic Association, included various categories such as traditional yogasana, artistic pair, and rhythmic pair, among others. Galgotias University's CEO, Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, applauded the students' success as a testament to their preparation, discipline, and international competitiveness. Athletes Ritu, Riya, and Deepa shared their experiences, highlighting the intense competition and the opportunity to represent India on a global stage.
