India-Italy Forge Ahead with AI Hub for Sustainable Development in Africa
India and Italy aim to enhance trilateral cooperation in Africa via an AI hub for sustainable development, focusing on precision agriculture, water management, health, and education. Italian Ambassador Antonio Bartoli emphasized the strategic convergence and growing partnerships between the countries amidst global uncertainties.
India and Italy are set to intensify their trilateral cooperation in Africa through the establishment of an AI Hub focused on sustainable development. This initiative will address critical areas like precision agriculture, water management, health, and education, as per Antonio Bartoli, the Italian Ambassador to India.
Speaking at the 16th Edition of the Mindmine Summit 2026, Bartoli highlighted the increasing opportunities for collaboration between the two nations beyond their bilateral relations. He identified artificial intelligence as a pivotal area for joint ventures and noted that Italy has formed an AI hub in partnership with India and Kenya to support African development.
Bartoli pointed out the expanding strategic alignment between India and Italy amid global uncertainties, emphasizing their shared values and interests. According to him, high-level diplomatic engagements have further strengthened their cooperation in sectors such as science and technology, mobility, defence, and critical minerals.
