Venezuela Energy Week 2026 has named Geoex MCG as its Official Geosciences Partner, bringing a stronger technical focus to discussions around the country's offshore energy resources and future exploration opportunities. The partnership comes as Venezuela seeks to attract fresh international investment and increase confidence in its upstream oil and gas sector through better data, improved resource assessment and greater geological understanding.

Geoex MCG occupies a unique position in Venezuela's energy industry as the only company operating under a multi-client agreement with the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and the sole provider of offshore seismic data in the country. Its recently reprocessed offshore datasets are available for licensing, while plans are being developed for additional data acquisition beginning in 2026.

New Focus on Data-Driven Exploration

The partnership is expected to strengthen the technical programme of Venezuela Energy Week, which will take place in Caracas from October 26 to 29, 2026. The event is being positioned as a major platform connecting government officials, investors, operators and technical experts interested in the future of Venezuela's energy industry.

Industry leaders believe modern geoscience data will play a critical role in helping investors evaluate opportunities more accurately. Discussions at the event are expected to focus on basin evolution, seismic imaging quality, prospect evaluation and offshore field development strategies.

Offshore Opportunities Gain Attention

Geoex MCG's updated datasets are expected to provide clearer insights into frontier offshore regions that have seen limited exploration activity. Improved imaging is also expected to support assessments of existing fields, including Perla, Rio Caribe, Mejillones, Patao, Dragon and the Loran-Cocuina area.

Robert Sorley, President of Geoex MCG, said Venezuela remains one of the world's most significant subsurface provinces but requires high-quality modern data to unlock its full potential. He noted that the company's partnership with DUG Technology and its growing portfolio of reprocessed datasets are intended to help exploration companies evaluate offshore opportunities with greater confidence.

Supporting Venezuela's Energy Revival

As global attention gradually returns to Venezuela's vast hydrocarbon resources, industry stakeholders are increasingly focused on balancing geological potential with technical certainty. Venezuela holds some of the world's largest proven oil reserves and significant natural gas resources, making accurate subsurface information a key factor in future investment decisions.

The partnership reflects a broader effort to position Venezuela Energy Week as a forum where investors, policymakers and technical experts can examine opportunities through a combination of geological evidence, commercial analysis and development planning. Organisers say the goal is to support informed investment decisions while advancing long-term growth across the country's energy sector.
