European Shares Climb Amid Economic Resilience, Despite Inflation Concerns
European shares rose on Friday, driven by robust earnings and manufacturing growth. However, inflation concerns persist due to high oil prices and Treasury yields. STOXX 600 index gained slightly, yet ended the week with losses. Investors remain cautious amidst geopolitical tensions and potential ECB policy changes.
European shares experienced an uptick on Friday as investors concentrated on economic resilience indicators, despite the benchmark ending the week lower. Persistent inflation concerns, fueled by elevated oil prices and Treasury yields, kept market caution alive.
The pan-European STOXX 600 closed 0.59% higher at 654.18 points, extending losses into a second consecutive week. Earlier this week, a surge in U.S. long-term bond yields unsettled global markets, denting risk appetite. This was partially assuaged by the U.S. Treasury’s temporary liquidity support measures.
