Thoughtspot planning to invest USD 25 mn in Bengaluru facility for expansion plans

US-headquartered artificial intelligence (AI) company Thoughtspot Monday said it will invest USD 25 million for expanding its engineering activities at its two-year-old facility in Bengaluru. The company was founded by a group of persons of Indian origin in California in 2012.

The funds will be used to innovate the company's search and AI-driven analytics platform and continue to recruit talent from top Indian universities, an official statement said. It added that India has become a major global hub for analytics and AI professionals, providing a significant opportunity for companies who can tap into this talent pool.

With the new funding, it aims to expand activities out of AI engineering centre in Bengaluru to work on the company's analytics and AI platform. Teams in India will collaborate with research and development centres in Sunnyvale and Seattle in the US, it added.

Without giving a number, it said the money will be used to hire fully formed product teams in the Bengaluru office, including product managers, engineers, and designers. It will also be launching business operations in India, serving both global customers with data analytics and engineering teams in India, as well as enterprises based in India.

Currently, one in ten open data science and machine learning jobs can be found in India, it added. "We're looking for the best and brightest minds in the product, engineering, and design who share our passion for delivering real value to our customers while bettering the world through artificial intelligence, distributed systems and databases," its head of India engineering Puneet Agarwal said.
