Three children have been killed on in a bomb blast that occured in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province in Afghanistan, according to local media reports. The blast that reportedly occured today early morning has also left at least 26 others wounded.

Improvised Explosive Device IED was planted in a motorcycle which the militants detonated among the civilians in a marketplace Spin Boldak district, which shares a border with Pakistan.

No individual or group including Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion.

Today's incident took place hours before the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) released its latest report regarding civilian casualties.

According to UNAMA, the conflict inflicted casualties on 3,812 civilians (1,366 deaths and 2,446 injured) including many children during the first half of 2019. UNAMA attributed 52 percent of all civilian casualties to Anti-Government Elements (AGEs), with 38 percent attributed to Taliban, 11 percent to Daesh/Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), and 3 percent to unidentified AGEs.
