Snacking start-up Samosa Singh has raised USD 2.7 million (about Rs 19 crore) in series A funding led by She Capital along with follow-on investors Fireside Ventures and others. The company also saw participation from early-stage fund Equanimity Investments, Japan-based AET Fund, and the AL Trust, the Bengaluru-based company said in a statement on Friday.
The fund will be used to scale up operations, increase production, and expansion into new cities, apart from entering individual households through its quick delivery via cloud kitchen model. Samosa Singh was co-founded by Shikhar Veer Singh and Nidhi Singh in 2016 to reinvent the king of snacks -- the samosa.
Anisha Singh of She Capital said her venture was launched to empower and enable high-growth women led businesses and this is the first investment. Samosa Singh currently operates in Bengaluru and Hyderabad and plans to establish and consolidate its presence in south India.
Since the beginning, it has been partnering with Inox, PVR Cinemas, and Café Coffee Day, among others, apart from a flagship outlet at the Bengaluru airport.
