In India, Teachers' Day is considered to be a very special day for showing the relationship between a teacher and a disciple. In the whole country, the disciple not only congratulates his guru but also blesses him.

There is an interesting fact behind celebrating Teacher's Day in India on September 5.

On this day Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born, due to which the day began to be celebrated as Teacher's Day. Born in 1962, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a well-known scholar, teacher, philosopher and leader. He did many notable works in the field of education, due to which he was given this title.

Teacher's Day is organized in memory of Dr. Radhakrishnan. He was India's first Vice-President and second President. He was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1954. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was nominated 27 times for the Nobel Prize.
