Anurag Kashyap's 'Dev.D,' a cult classic modern retelling of the Bengali novel 'Devdas,' is set to return to theaters. The film, featuring Abhay Deol, Mahie Gill, and Kalki Koechlin, will be re-released by PVR INOX in collaboration with Star Studio18 on April 24.
Set in the contemporary backdrop of Punjab and Delhi, 'Dev.D' tells the story of Devendra Singh Dhillon, a young man spiraling into addiction after a failed romance. The film explores complex emotions and societal norms, offering fresh takes on traditional storytelling.
Originally released in 2009, the film was both a critical and commercial success. Niharika Bijli of PVR INOX lauds its enduring impact and immersive experience in cinemas. The film's music, composed by Amit Trivedi, also remains a significant highlight of the narrative.
