T'gana Guv seeks report on 'suicide' of girl student at RGUKT

Expressing anguish over the alleged suicide of a girl student at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) in Nirmal district of Telangana, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday sought a detailed report on the incident.

The Governor asked the Vice-Chancellor of the institute to intervene to address the issues faced by students that led to such extreme steps, a Raj Bhavan press communique said.

''She (Governor) ordered a detailed report in 48 hours, including the measures that are being taken by the university administration to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future,'' it said.

The Governor appealed to the students not to resort to extreme steps and to gear up to confront the challenges of pursuing higher education with a brave heart, it said.

A girl student of RGUKT, popularly known as IIIT Basar, died after ''accidentally falling'' from a building, police said on Thursday.

The incident came two days after a girl student died by suicide in the same institution.
