Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra on Saturday said in the last four years of his tenure, he has worked to spread the fundamental vision of the Constitution through many programmes.
Mishra held a press conference at the Raj Bhavan here on the completion of four years of his tenure and highlighted the work done by him so far and the plan for the coming year.
The governor also asserted that he is not involved in any dispute with the Congress government in the state.
When asked, Mishra said four-five bills are pending before his office for approval, including the Rajasthan Minimum Guaranteed Income Bill and the Rajasthan Platform-Based Gig Workers Bill. The bills were passed in the state Assembly in July.
On reports of a dispute between his office and the state government, led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, over the appointment of vice-chancellors in universities, he said there is no such dispute. Mishra, who was sworn-in as the governor of Rajasthan on September 9, 2019, highlighted that the first Constitution Park of the country was constructed at the Raj Bhavan in Jaipur.
''With the aim that the new generation should be aware of their constitutional rights as well as duties, the construction of Constitution gardens has also been started in universities,'' he said.
Mishra said basic facts related to the cultural and historical journey of the Constitution have been preserved at the Constitution Park.
Talking about the lack of awareness among people regarding the preamble of the Constitution and fundamental duties, the governor said he has started reading about these at all public programmes so that the faith of people in the Constitution could further be strengthened.
He said along with ensuring quality education in the universities of the state, employment-oriented courses have been launched in the last four years under the National Education Policy, 2020.
Mishra informed that apart from implementing the State University Management System, a regular evaluation of the universities on the basis of monthly reports has also been ensured at the level of the Raj Bhavan.
He said instructions have been given to develop an ''anti-plagiarism software'' for the universities to promote original research. A timely admission process, the implementation of the examination calendar and curriculum updates, among other steps, have also been ensured in the universities, Mishra said.
''The students have benefitted to a large extent from all these steps, including the initiative of organising convocation ceremonies every year and awarding degrees to them on time,'' he added.
The governor said Red Cross committees have been formed in all districts of the state in the last four years, while artistes have been encouraged through the West Zone Cultural Centre.
