Chinese authorities have detained a suspect linked to a stabbing incident involving four instructors from Iowa's Cornell College. The attack occurred in Jilin, northeast China, and officials confirmed it on Tuesday.

According to Jilin city police, a 55-year-old man identified as Cui attacked the victims, including three foreigners and one Chinese national, after colliding with a foreigner in a public park. The injured were quickly taken to a hospital and are reportedly not in critical condition. The instructors from Cornell College were working at Beihua University, as stated by U.S. officials.

Cornell College President Jonathan Brand and U.S. State Department officials have voiced their concerns while monitoring the situation. The attack coincided with efforts by both Washington and Beijing to enhance bilateral relations through people-to-people exchanges, despite ongoing international tensions.
