NTA Revises NEET-UG Rank List After Supreme Court-Mandated Retest

The National Testing Agency announced a revised rank list for NEET-UG after a retest was held due to earlier grace marks issues. The retest saw 48% attendance. Allegations of score inflation and subsequent legal intervention necessitated this move. The Centre dismissed calls for a re-examination, citing localised irregularities.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a revised rank list for the medical entrance exam NEET-UG, following a Supreme Court-mandated retest. This decision came after allegations of grace marks inflating scores due to delayed exams on May 5 at six centres.

The retest, conducted on June 23, saw 48% attendance, with only 813 out of 1,563 candidates appearing. Centres such as Chandigarh registered zero attendance while others, like Jhajjar in Haryana, saw 58% attendance.

The Supreme Court ordered the cancellation of grace marks following complaints, especially highlighting six candidates from a single Haryana centre scoring a perfect 720. The revised list affects the fate of approximately 24 lakh candidates.
