Delhi University Rejects Manusmriti Proposal for LLB Curriculum

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh on Friday announced the rejection of a proposal to include Manusmriti in the LLB curriculum, labeling it as inappropriate for teaching Indian culture.

In an exclusive interview with PTI, Singh revealed that he used his emergency powers to scrap the proposal during a pre-screening session for the Academic Council meeting.

This decision was driven by objections from teachers and students who criticized Manusmriti for being regressive. Singh emphasized that other texts could effectively teach Indian culture.
