The Supreme Court will on Thursday hear over 40 petitions related to the controversy-ridden NEET-UG 2024 medical entrance exam. Scheduled for May 5, the exam has faced calls for cancellation, re-test, and probe into alleged malpractices.
A bench including Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will address the pleas. The National Testing Agency (NTA) seeks to transfer pending cases to the Supreme Court to consolidate proceedings.
The Centre's affidavit asserts that data analytics by IIT-Madras found no evidence of mass malpractice, a significant detail given the Supreme Court's earlier observation that a re-test might be ordered if large-scale irregularities were found. The NTA also backed this with analysis showing normal distribution of marks.
