The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested four medical students from AIIMS Patna, implicating them in the NEET-UG paper leak scandal. The students—three third-year MBBS students and one second-year student—were detained in connection with a 'solver module' linked to the key accused arrested earlier in the week.
The detainment follows the arrest of Pankaj Kumar, a 2017-batch civil engineer from NIT Jamshedpur, for allegedly stealing the NEET-UG 2024 question paper. According to officials, Kumar had pilfered the paper from an NTA trunk in Hazaribagh and handed it to a group of 'solvers,' including the arrested AIIMS students.
With the addition of these four medical students, the total arrests in the case now tally up to 18. Produced before a special court in Patna, the students have been remanded to a four-day CBI custody. Officials revealed that their hostel rooms have been sealed and they were escorted from AIIMS Patna premises after a coordinated effort involving senior faculty members.
