In a significant shift in NEET-UG 2024 trends, more than 2,300 candidates scored above 700 out of 720, sources revealed. Interestingly, many of these top scorers are from non-traditional tuition hubs. This year, a record 23.33 lakh students appeared for the medical entrance exam, with 2,321 candidates achieving scores of 700 or above. These high scorers were distributed across 1,404 centres in 276 cities spanning 25 states and Union Territories, besides some international centres.

A comparative analysis shows that NEET 2023 had a more concentrated distribution of top scorers. Candidates scoring between 700 to 720 were spread across 116 cities and 310 centres, while those with scores between 650 to 699 were in 381 cities and 2,431 centres, and those between 600 to 649 in 464 cities and 3,434 centres.

Official sources confirmed that many students from traditional hubs like Sikar, Kota, and Kottayam scored 700 or more, but students from other cities also made it to this bracket. Aligning NEET's syllabus with higher secondary education seems to be a contributing factor.
