Three civil services aspirants tragically died on July 27 in the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle due to flooding, students revealed on Tuesday. The lack of a biometric lock system in the basement has raised serious concerns.
Reports suggest that the students became trapped when water gushed in, malfunctioning the locking system. However, students have clarified that no such biometric lock was in place at the institute.
The basement, primarily used for mock tests and storing study materials, had two doors. One was generally locked around 6 PM, potentially trapping the victims, as per an anonymous student from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh.
The students claim that waterlogging is a recurring issue in the area and that both students and institute administrators have repeatedly complained to civic authorities, to no avail.
