The Supreme Court on Friday ruled out holding the NEET-UG 2024 examination afresh, stating that there was insufficient evidence of systemic malpractice compromising its integrity.
The court expanded the mandate of a Centre-appointed panel, led by ex-ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, to review the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and suggest examination reforms. The panel is to submit its report by September 30.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra outlined reasons for declining to cancel the exam, noting that the evidence available did not indicate widespread malpractice, but they expressed concerns about the NTA's conduct of the examination.
