Kotak Mahindra Group Doubles Kotak Kanya Scholarships for 2024
The Kotak Education Foundation (KEF) has announced the expansion of its Kotak Kanya Scholarship programme, doubling the number of scholarships to support 500 meritorious girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in India. The scholarship includes financial aid, holistic development, and professional readiness activities.
The Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), the CSR implementation arm of Kotak Mahindra Group, has taken a significant step towards supporting higher education for girls in India. On August 5, 2024, KEF announced the expansion of its Kotak Kanya Scholarship programme, doubling the number of scholarships to 500 as it enters its fourth year.
This initiative aims to empower economically disadvantaged, meritorious girls across India by providing financial support of INR 1,50,000 annually over 4-5 years. Besides financial assistance, the scholarship also facilitates holistic development through intensive student engagement and finishing school activities. The programme has garnered impressive outcomes, supporting 525 girls across 24 states and 122 top-ranked institutions in its first three years.
Jayasree Ramesh, Executive Committee Member and Director of Education Programmes at KEF, highlighted the programme's commitment to nurturing the unique potential of each scholar. In over a decade, KEF has provided scholarships to more than 3600 students, with over 800 alumni now successful in various professional fields. The Kotak Kanya Scholarship's holistic approach and extensive industry engagement aim to ensure scholars are well-prepared for future professional challenges.
