Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault on 12-Year-Old Girl

A 12-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her teacher in a government school, police said on Monday. The accused, identified as Vinay Babu (35), has been arrested.

According to law enforcement, a complaint alleged that Babu sexually assaulted a class 5 student on Saturday. The girl narrated the incident to her family, who then approached the police, said SHO Sachidanand Pandey. An FIR was subsequently filed, and Babu was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Basic Education Officer Bhupendra Narayan Singh confirmed that Babu has been suspended from his duties with immediate effect.
