India’s 'One Nation, One Subscription' (ONOS) initiative promises to democratize access to premium academic content, previously confined to wealthier institutions, according to Cambridge University Press’s Managing Director Mandy Hill. She emphasizes that the initiative is pivotal for India's education sector.

In an interview, Hill underlines that while access is crucial, empowering researchers to contribute meaningfully to the global knowledge economy is also vital. ONOS, launched in December, will make 3,400 international journals available to researchers, coordinated by Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET).

Hill mentions the importance of open access and increasing the visibility of Indian research worldwide. Cambridge University Press plans activities to enhance scholarly communication and publishing standards, while an agreement with VTU extends e-book access, aligning with CUP’s mission to democratize information.
