The police on Sunday arrested the vice-president of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Nihar Mohanty, due to his alleged involvement in the 2025 OTET paper leak, according to a senior official.

The breach led to the postponement of the exam initially scheduled for July 20, after leaked questions were shared online. The investigation uncovered suspected negligence, with Mohanty maintaining a suspicious relationship with Jitan Moharana, a data entry operator at BSE, said Vinaytosh Mishra, Director General of Police (Crime Branch).

Evidence revealed Moharana, without proper authority, shared the leaked papers with others after Mohanty gave inadmissible access to his computer. The crime branch's investigation continues, focusing on further complicity and financial trails related to the breach, Mishra added.
