In a resounding address at St Thomas College, Pala, President Droupadi Murmu praised Kerala for its educational advancements, attributing the state's success in human development metrics to literacy and learning. Her speech marked the platinum jubilee of the revered educational institution.

President Murmu emphasized the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, who championed education as the path to enlightenment. She highlighted the role of education in driving both individual and societal progress, acknowledging the college's efforts in 'spreading the light of education.'

Recounting Kerala's rich history in educational reform, Murmu cited the Vaikom Satyagraha and Kottayam's designation as 'Akshara-nagari' or city of letters. She called upon graduates to continue striving towards sustainability and inclusivity, noting the college's prolific alumni, including former Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan.
