The Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) is set to embark on a new chapter as the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) transfers its operations to Kathmandu University.
The official transfer was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at ICIMOD's headquarters in Kathmandu. This move is viewed as a step towards establishing HUC as an independent, regionally rooted consortium.
HUC was initially established to improve collaboration among universities in the Hindu Kush Himalayas, focusing on mountain development challenges. The current transition aims to strengthen this mission further by entrusting Kathmandu University with guiding its future endeavors.
