Kerala's Higher Education Minister R Bindu announced the resolution of a prolonged deadlock over vice-chancellor appointments at two state-run universities, following the Supreme Court's intervention. The deadlock, which disrupted university operations, was broken after a meeting between the Chief Minister and the Governor. Dr Ciza Thomas and Dr Saji Gopinathan have been appointed as VCs. Kerala has resolved a longstanding dispute over its state-run technical universities' vice-chancellor appointments. This decision aims to end the prolonged uncertainty that affected the universities' daily functioning, according to Higher Education Minister R Bindu.
Dr Ciza Thomas and Dr Saji Gopinathan have been appointed VCs following discussions between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The appointments came after Supreme Court intervention to break a deadlock.
Minister Bindu criticized the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, arguing it violates state university autonomy. She assured that initiatives would continue to ensure smooth appointing processes for VCs across Kerala.
