Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has criticized past governments for neglecting education, alleging their focus was on enabling cheating rather than student learning. He highlighted these issues while inaugurating the School Chalo Abhiyan in Varanasi.
Adityanath pointed out that prior to 2017, the educational agenda was largely nonexistent, with schools failing to provide essential facilities that deterred student attendance. A notable improvement in this area, he claimed, includes the drastic reduction in dropout rates, dropping from 19 percent to 3 percent under the current administration.
Emphasizing the importance of educational infrastructure, Adityanath attributed improvements to initiatives inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such as separate toilets and drinking water facilities. He called upon officials to further decrease dropout rates to zero, marking a milestone for the Basic Education Council.
