The Uttarakhand Education Department is set to conduct comprehensive health checkups for all 234 lecturers appointed under the disability quota. The initiative follows allegations that some lecturers secured their positions with fake disability certificates.
Health checkups are scheduled from March 7 to April 2 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Rishikesh. Each week, checkups will run twice, on Thursdays and Saturdays, with 50 lecturers being examined per day.
The move was instigated by a public interest litigation from the National Federation of the Blind, prompting the Education Department to take action. Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat assured that any wrongdoing discovered would lead to appropriate measures.
