The Directorate of School Education in Himachal Pradesh has taken a stern stance against alleged negligence by a school principal. On Friday, a show cause notice was issued to the principal of Government Senior Secondary School in Dhalli over accusations of dereliction of duty.
The controversy centers on the disconnection of electricity at the Government Primary School in Dhalli, a cluster school under the principal's purview, due to unpaid bills as of January 27, 2026. This issue arose despite the availability of about Rs 15 lakh in the school's account and explicit government orders authorizing the use of such funds for maintaining basic amenities.
With government guidelines issued on December 15, 2025, permitting principals to utilize accumulated funds, the failure to restore electricity has deprived students of essential facilities. The Directorate is now demanding an explanation and considering disciplinary measures, requiring the principal to report in person on March 23, 2026.
