The students of Delhi University's Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College have issued a statement clarifying the nature of their recent protests. They insist that the demonstrations are not a reaction to any particular political ideology.
The protests were sparked by a video featuring the college principal, Kanika K Ahuja, on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) social media page. This video, recorded by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, highlighted opinions on the Women's Reservation Bill.
Students argue that they should have the same right to express political views as the administration, who are free to share their opinions. The principal noted that discussions are ongoing to find a shared understanding between the students and the administration.
