New Medical College Opportunities Surge in Tamil Nadu

PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss announced that the National Medical Commission has lifted a regulation hindering new medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. This move enables the establishment of six new colleges and expansion of existing ones. The party aims to ensure medical colleges in every district.

In a significant development for Tamil Nadu's healthcare education sector, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss revealed that the National Medical Commission has scrapped a regulation that previously impeded the founding of new medical colleges in southern states, particularly Tamil Nadu.

This regulatory change paves the way for the creation of six new medical colleges within the state, benefiting districts like Kancheepuram, Ranipet, and Tenkasi that currently lack such facilities. Existing colleges may also expand enrollment by adding 50 seats each, potentially accommodating 1,550 more medical students.

Ramadoss emphasized the PMK's commitment to ensuring every district has a government medical college, noting the establishment of 13 new colleges under the previous AIADMK regime. With elections looming, the party plans to expedite these educational initiatives with a new government formation.
