On Friday, the Delhi University's North Campus witnessed a protest organized by the Academic for Action and Development Delhi Teachers' Association (AADTA), pushing for the regularisation of ad hoc and temporary teachers at 12 DU colleges funded by the Delhi government.
Representatives from various colleges, including Academic Council members, DUTA executive members, and other college staff associations, joined the protest. They called for the immediate implementation of the Delhi High Court's verdict in the Namita Khare case, which advocates for the permanent status of long-serving ad-hoc teachers.
Former Executive Council member Rajesh Jha highlighted the precarious position of hundreds of teachers without permanent appointments. Stressing the inadequacy of the 301 sanctioned posts created in 2010-2011 for the existing 1,000 faculty members, he urged for quick ex-post facto sanctions to kickstart the recruitment process.
