Ex-CIA Analyst Larry Johnson Criticizes U.S. Economic Approach to India
Former CIA Analyst Larry Johnson accused the U.S. of economic racism against India, advocating for India to have a permanent UN Security Council seat. Johnson highlighted the U.S.'s condescending approach and predicted a new global order led by the Global South amid India's leadership in BRICS.
In a scathing interview with ANI, former CIA analyst Larry Johnson accused the United States of practicing economic racism against India. Highlighting long-standing inequities, Johnson argued on Friday that India deserves a permanent seat on the UN Security Council due to its growing significance on the global stage.
Johnson criticized U.S. foreign policy, labeling it as bullying and condescending. He suggested that U.S. actions reflected a refusal to adjust to India's rise, treating the country as a mere 'token' of British influence. Johnson associated these tactics with the U.S.'s broader economic strategy, mentioning coercive expectations imposed on countries like India to buy U.S. treasuries.
Amid Johnson's remarks, India hosts the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting, countering claims of promoting 'de-dollarisation' among member countries—an initiative the U.S. looks upon warily. India's Ministry of External Affairs clarified on August 14, 2025, that such economic moves were not on their agenda, reaffirming India's stance against such speculation.
