Protests erupted at Delhi University as members of the All India Students' Association (AISA) voiced their discontent over the decision to hold examinations on Eid-ul-Azha. Tensions escalated with students claiming they were mishandled by security personnel outside the University's exam branch.

Protesters argued for the rescheduling of exams, insisting hundreds of security personnel were present and some demonstrators experienced manhandling. Despite the students' allegations, DU proctor Manoj Kumar Singh refuted claims of a scuffle, stating that students attempting to enter the building were merely asked to leave and affirming that exams would proceed as planned on May 28.

The Delhi High Court, however, informed that law students could request to take their exams after July 4 instead of the scheduled date. Despite this relief, many other students still faced exams on the gazetted holiday, prompting criticism from various university quarters.

Ananya, vice president of AISA-DU, voiced that demands for observance respect were met with violence. She confirmed their continued protest until their pleas were acknowledged. Additionally, the controversy was fueled when DU announced that while closing major operations for Eid, exams would occur as scheduled, sparking concerns among students and staff.
