C Joseph Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, held discussions with Narendra Modi in the national capital, addressing some pressing issues for the state. The dialogue touched on the contentious Mekedatu dam project, ongoing fishermen arrests, and the matter of the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu song at government functions.

This meeting, the first official visit by Vijay since taking office, highlighted Tamil Nadu's objection to Karnataka's plan to advance the Mekedatu dam project, arguing that it contravenes the Supreme Court's Cauvery dispute decisions. Vijay sought Modi's intervention to halt progress on the project. Additionally, discussions included advocating for the protection and release of Tamil Nadu's fishermen and vessels, emphasizing the need for Modi to take firm actions.
