Delhi Chief Urges Schools to Maintain Sanitation and Support Menstrual Health

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the need for clean facilities and adequate sanitation in schools while promoting menstrual health awareness. In a virtual meeting, she urged the installation and maintenance of sanitary pad vending machines, encouraged HPV vaccination with parental consent, and discussed girls' health education initiatives.

In a recent directive, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called on government school principals to ensure clean and well-maintained facilities, including toilets and medical rooms. The initiative also focuses on the proper functioning of sanitary pad vending machines to support girls' menstrual health.

Speaking at a virtual event for World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Gupta highlighted the importance of treating menstruation as a normal biological process. She urged schools to provide a supportive environment where girls can discuss their menstrual health without fear.

Gupta also promoted the HPV vaccine for girls, emphasizing the need for parents' consent and awareness campaigns. Plans include distributing free bicycles to girls post-summer vacation and launching awareness drives through ASHA and anganwadi workers.

Aligned with the 'Menstrual Health Matters' campaign, the government plans to monitor sanitary pad machine maintenance across various facilities and ensure access to biodegradable products. Education initiatives will address menstrual health, anemia, PCOS, cervical cancer, and vaccination awareness.
