After stepping down as Karnataka's chief minister, Siddaramaiah, along with his deputy D K Shivakumar, departed for New Delhi. Their missions in the capital include discussions with Congress leadership regarding the new ministry's formulation in the state.

According to party insiders, the duo's meetings will touch upon the selection of the new Congress Legislature Party leader, a potential reshuffle of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee presidency, and other organizational details. Siddaramaiah's resignation was received by the Governor's Special Secretary, signaling a leadership transition encouraged by the Congress high command.

Siddaramaiah convened a breakfast meeting with cabinet colleagues to announce his decision to step down. He hinted at Shivakumar succeeding him, though officially, the decision rests with the party's legislature and high command. Outside influences, including direct communication from Rahul Gandhi, played a part, but Siddaramaiah remains undecided about a future role at the national level despite offers.
