well with a lot of people watching. And now viewers are waiting for Ginny & Georgia Season 3.
The show is about a 15-year-old girl named Ginny Miller and her mom Georgia. They go to live in a made-up place called Wellsbury in Massachusetts to begin again after Georgia's husband dies.
When Will Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Arrive?
Netflix announced on May 17 that there will be a Season 3 and even a Season 4 of Ginny & Georgia. But, they haven't given a release date for Season 3. It's hard to guess when it might come out. Normally, we might have expected new episodes in early 2024. But, Hollywood has stopped working because of strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild, and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
The actors and writers are asking for more money and promise that machines won't take their jobs. This means many movies and TV shows aren't being made right now. Because of these strikes, they haven't started making Ginny and Georgia Season 3.
It's tough to guess when Season 3 will come out because no one knows when the strikes will end. If the problems continue, filming might start in early 2024, and we could see the new season on Netflix by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
What's Coming in Ginny & Georgia Season 3?
Ginny & Georgia Season 2 ended with major twists: Ginny finds out about Marcus's depression and supports him. Georgia confides in Marcus about a past murder, strengthening their bond. Yet, she breaks off her wedding to Paul. Under Ginny's advice, Georgia admits her past to Paul but leaves out the murder details. Angry, Paul leaves them. On the wedding day, Georgia gets arrested for Tom's murder, stunning everyone. Young Austin reveals he knows something about Tom's death night.
Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia deals with the fallout from Georgia's arrest and how it affects the Miller family. Georgia tries to avoid going to prison and this puts strain on her relationship with Paul and her kids.
The secrets that Georgia kept hidden make Ginny and Austin confront their own identities and make hard choices. Love triangles emerge, like Marcus and Ginny's complicated connection, and Georgia's growing attraction to Joe.
The effects of Georgia's arrest impact Simone and Zion, Hunter, and Abby, as they deal with their struggles and relationships. The show explores Nora's character and how much Marcus knows about Georgia's secret. The future of Georgia and Paul's relationship is unsure, and the question of whether Nick betrayed Georgia adds more to the story. With Gil fighting for custody of Austin, the Miller family faces new challenges.
In an interview with Deadline, creator Sarah Lampert shared that Season 3 will be intense, saying, "If we’re going to see Season 3 but I certainly hope we do because it’s going to be a wild ride." The Season 2 finale left Georgia getting arrested at her wedding for Tom's murder.
Lampert mentioned they've set up many possibilities for Season 3, like the potential custody battle involving Zion and Gil, and the evolving relationships between the characters.
Apart from Georgia's time in prison, Season 3 might explore other storylines like Cynthia and Georgia's dynamic, Ginny and Austin's reactions, Gil's custody fight, and Ginny and Marcus dealing with their breakup.
"I think we’ve set up a lot of really great possibilities in the sense that, just playing out hypotheticals, if Georgia is being charged with this crime, we have Zion, he’s Ginny’s dad, we have Gill in the picture now. I think previous to this, he had no chance at custody because he was a convicted felon but who knows now, and we’ve got Paul, who’s the stepdad. We have so many golden possibilities for storytelling based on how rich these characters are, and based on how many surprises we want to throw into Season 3 that I’m being coy about but we do have it planned out."
Lampert told to TV Guide Ginny and Marcus should be friends for now, given all the complexities in their lives.
"Ginny has that layer of like, 'My mom's a killer,' all this stuff.' I think they should be friends right [now.] I think they need to be there for each other in a way that doesn't have strings attached."
Former showrunner Debra J. Fisher expects Season 3 to address Georgia's arrest and its impact on the characters. She teased a roller-coaster ride just like in Season 2.
Debra J. Fisher told to THR, "I will say this, Sarah Lampert and I, we do know exactly where we want to go and we’ll be addressing all of those things — where we left Georgia, getting arrested at the wedding and Paul. Right now, Marcus and Ginny are in a very positive place as friends. Zion lives just outside of Wellsbury in Boston, so he’s going to be around. Season three is going to be a big roller coaster, just like season two, given the cliffhanger that we left you with."
Overall, Season 3 will dive into the aftermath of the intense Season 2 finale and how it affects the main family and other characters.
