Kerala Governor Reacts to Kuwait Fire Tragedy

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan expressed deep sorrow over the Kuwait fire catastrophe, which claimed 49 lives, including 45 Indians. He emphasized the need for long-term solutions to local employment opportunities to prevent such incidents in the future and urged for immediate sympathy for the bereaved families.

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan described the Kuwait fire incident as an inexpressible tragedy and voiced his hope that such a catastrophe never recurs.

Addressing reporters, Khan stressed the necessity for long-term strategies to tackle the underlying issue of locals being compelled to seek overseas employment due to lack of local opportunities.

Khan further remarked that the present moment calls for compassion towards the bereaved families, expressing his profound sorrow over the incident.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) flight brought back the mortal remains of 45 Indians who perished in the fire, arriving at Cochin international airport at around 10.30 am. The remains of 31 individuals from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka were received by Central and state ministers and political leaders.

Officials confirmed that 49 individuals were killed in the fire that swept through the Al-Mangaf building on June 12, including 45 Indians. The building accommodated around 195 migrant workers, also housing Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, and Nepali nationals.
