Vastarey was well-regarded for her work as a presenter on DD Chandana and her participation in several government programmes. Her impeccable Kannada diction earned her a loyal fan base. Notably, she set a record in 1998 by presenting shows for eight continuous hours during Diwali celebrations.
She made her cinematic debut in the 1984 film 'Masanada Hoovu' and appeared in numerous Kannada TV shows, including a notable role on 'Majaa Talkies.' Her voice was also familiar to many Bengaluru Metro commuters.
