In an effort to display its rich heritage and biodiversity, Goa Tourism has introduced the 'Goa Beyond Beaches' initiative aimed at diverting travelers to other attractions within the state, away from its crowded beaches.

Senior official Deepak Narvekar stated, 'As beach traffic increases, it's crucial to draw travelers to alternative destinations, from heritage sites to forest reserves across the state.'

Narvekar revealed that the state is also encouraging homestays in scenic Goan villages, allowing tourists to experience traditional Goan cuisine and local culture. The Goa government offers monetary support to help set up these homestays, providing tourists with quality facilities. Popular alternative tourist spots now include Canacona, Bicholim, and Sattari.

Additionally, the state's wildlife sanctuaries, such as Cotigao and Mhadei, are gaining popularity. Narvekar highlighted local wildlife and safaris, which attract high-end tourists interested in bird watching and wildlife. In 2023, Goa saw more than one crore tourists, both domestic and international.

The 'Wed in Goa' policy, facilitating beach and hotel weddings through a simplified application process, is also gaining traction.
