Excitement Builds for 69th Filmfare South Awards

The 69th Filmfare South Awards, set to take place on August 3 in Hyderabad, announced its nominees including Rukmini Vasanth and Darshan for Kannada films. The event promises memorable moments with nominations spanning across major South Indian languages, with partnerships from Sobha Limited and Kamar Film Factory.

On Tuesday, Actor Rukmini Vasanth expressed her long-held dream of being nominated for a Filmfare award during a press conference announcing the nominations for the 69th Filmfare South Awards, slated for August 3 in Hyderabad. Vasanth has been nominated for Best Actress (Kannada) for her performance in the 2023 hit 'Sapta Sagara Daache Ello', which also earned nods for its director, actor, and music director categories.

Kannada actor Darshan, currently imprisoned for his alleged role in a murder, has also been nominated for Best Actor for 'Kaatera'. Other notable nominees include Aishwarya Rai for Best Actress (Tamil) for 'Ponniyin Selvan, Part 2', Fahadh Faasil for Best Supporting Actor (Tamil) for 'Maamannan', Mammootty for Best Actor (Malayalam) for 'Kaathal-The Core' and 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam', and Prakash Raj for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Telugu) for 'Ranga Maarthaanda'.

Highlighting her most memorable Filmfare moment, Malavika Mohanan recalled when Hrithik Roshan, in his debut year, won two awards, leaving a lasting impression on her. Filmfare Editor Jitesh Pillaai noted that the South edition began in 1962 with just four awards, now expanded to 60 categories across four languages. This year's event is in collaboration with real estate company Sobha Limited and Kamar Film Factory.
