Delhi Revenue Minister Atishi on Monday revealed that 185 camps are being set up across the national capital to accommodate kanwar yatris.

In a press conference, Atishi estimated that around 15 to 20 lakh kanwars are expected to pass through Delhi.

'There are 185 Kanwar shivirs being established. We aim to ensure the best possible arrangements. Waterproof tents, complete with furniture and bedding, are being set up. Additionally, medical facilities are available at these camps since kanwar yatris walk barefoot and are susceptible to water-borne diseases during the monsoon season,' she explained.

She added that the Kanwars will start arriving in Delhi after July 25, and the preparations for the camps will be completed within a few days. The Kanwar Yatra, which began on the first day of Sawan (Shravan), will conclude on August 2 with the offering of Ganga water to Lord Shiva.

A significant number of 'Kanwariyas' are anticipated to reach Delhi, with some continuing their journey to Haryana and Rajasthan via Delhi's borders.
