The 79-year-old, who frequently uses the platform to voice his opinions, alerted his followers to the breach on Sunday night. 'My X ID is hacked. There's a message ostensibly from my account about our Indian team for Olympics. It is totally harmless but not sent by me,' Akhtar stated.

While he did not specify when he discovered the hack or the exact contents of the message, Akhtar assured his 4.6 million followers that steps were being taken to report the issue to authorities. His bio on X describes him as 'A poet, lyricist, scriptwriter, atheist and a die-hard optimist,' and his handle combines his real name and nickname.
