India's Organizational Prowess Shines at 46th World Heritage Committee Session
India successfully hosted the 46th World Heritage Committee session, showcasing its organizational capabilities. The event, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw the addition of the Ahom dynasty's 'Moidams' to UNESCO's World Heritage List. India successfully hosted the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee, a significant testament to the country's organizational prowess, which has been bolstered after the G20 summit, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated on Wednesday.
Inaugurated on July 21 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the session is set to conclude on Wednesday evening.
During an interaction with media at his residence, Shekhawat emphasized the exceptional display of India's capability, underlined by the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, in hosting the WHC session for the first time with remarkable success.
Additionally, Shekhawat announced that a cultural property, the 'Moidams' burial mounds of the Ahom dynasty in Assam, was inscribed on the World Heritage List on July 26. He noted that India has added 13 properties to the list over the past decade, advocating for heritage conservation and international cooperation.
